Uniform

This issue examines uniforms—clothing that signals service, duty, or membership—and the notion of uniformity. Our cultural landscape, from clothing and food, to music and architecture, is shaped by standardization. In this issue we consider garments that signal rank and station, as well as responses to uniformity by artists, designers, photographers, and writers.
